you don't need internet for gps. Butt when i have internet on i gett faster connection with the sattelites

if you have te maps on your sd card you can, else you need data connection to gett the route you want.

I'm using NDrive. It's probably the fastest and the best program for it. Google it. Smile

or try iGO for qvga. works very good.
